A Healthy House

You may give consideration to the products you bring into your home. Are they safe? Are they toxic? Are they supportive for my health?

But how often do you think about the house itself. Some people are chronically sick. They are often very picky about what they eat and what products they bring into their home.

But have they thought about their house and what kind of toxicity it might have? Not everyone needs this, for sure. But it is interesting for us to know about and think about. And the house made the difference for this woman. Enjoy the video.

Looking Ahead

Happy November!  Our fall has been beautiful this year.  We have had many color-filled days.  Halloween is in the rear-view mirror and the biggest holidays of the year are before us, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Christmas will be different this year!  But different can be good.  One thing is:  we will still give gifts.  As you make your gift list, remember it is always nice to give a gift of health.  There are many things that fit the category.  Don’t forget the Voxx socks.  They make such nice gifts for the athlete as well as a person in pain.  I first bought them because they give 31% greater balance and I needed it.  Voxx has other products too.  Click on the dashboard on my website where it says socks.  They have a sleeve for people who need to focus and concentrate.  Think ADD.  They also have other health related products. You can ook through the website and see what catches your attention.  Maybe you will find your latest greatest thing!

I have a great moisturizer that always makes a nice gift.  And if you have a mom or dad or grandmother who has a sore knuckle, I have just the remedy.   If you need an idea, just ask!!  Even though we are challenged with Corona, let’s have a great Christmas!

Side Sleeping

You can get by with so much when you are young, right?  As we get older, we have to make some accommodations.  And one of them is with our sleeping position. I learned this from my own experience.  As we get older, sleeping on our side can cause our hips and/or knees to hurt, especially women because our hips are wide.

I bought a pillow especially made to put between my knees while on my side.  It was about 10 inches in length.  What a misstate that was!  My knees hurt more than before.  I had to experiment.  I found that I feel best when the pillow I put between my knees goes all the way from the top of my knees to the bottom of my feet.   Since I am short, I can use a regular pillow. Why is that better?  The short pillow left my leg hanging especially at the knee and ankle.  For a minute that is fine, but you sleep in the same position sometimes for hours.  It pulls on the ligaments.  Try using a pillow between your legs that goes from your knees and is long enough to still supports your ankle.  See if that doesn’t make a big difference for you like it did me!

Fruits and Veggies

No matter whether you buy organic or conventionally grown food, you still want to wash it. This is the way I wash my fruits and veggies because this will remove some of the pesticides and herbicides from your food. Even though I buy organic food, no food is really clean these days, even organic.

I put the fruit or veggie in a bowl of water and put about a tablespoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of salt. I swish the produce around in the water for about 30 seconds to a minute. You can leave it longer, but you don’t have to. I drain the bowl and then fill it with fresh water and wash the produce again. You will like the way this plumps up your produce if it is a bit weepy.

Nothing I know of will remove all toxins. We just do the best we can.

Laughing

Have you ever heard of laughing therapy? In this age of COVID, I think we should all try it. It is simple, completely free and you will have chemicals flowing throughout your body without taking any pills.

Yes, I am talking about laughter. It is good for us. It is fun. So do it!

If this is a hard exercise for you, just get around a few children. It seems like it happens more with little girls. Giggle, giggle, giggle. It starts out innocently. And then continue to laugh, boistrously laugh and do it for about 5 minutes. At first it feels like you are putting yourself, and others, on. And, maybe you are. But then it morphs into just plain silliness and laughter from the heart. After you finish laughing, see how you feel. You will feel better.

I think we were meant to laugh. A few of my best memories of my Grandpa were big belly laughs–just like Santa Clause. And if you happen to be a person who is a grouch, try doing this everyday for awhile. It won’t hurt you and it just might help you.

I’d love to hear any feedback!

Kindness

When I refer to kindness, do you think I’m talking about your relationship with others? Of course, that is part of it, but usually am talking about how kind you are to yourself. If I had a recorder in your head, would I want to listen?

Look in the mirror and tell yourself you love yourself. And most of all, mean it. Is it harder to love yourself when you don’t feel well or perhaps you have a chronic disease?

I just read a book a patient loaned me. The Last Best Cure was written by Donna Jackson Nakazawa and details her experience of living with a chronic illness. Much of what she says in her book is what I was teaching in my Childhood Loss classes. Our childhood affects our adult life and if you had trauma as a child, it will make itself known. She is an excellent writer and hope you enjoy it as much as I did. What a great Christmas gift for someone who struggles with an auto-immune disease. Remember, you can read it first!

CAN THEY SEE YOU?

I was driving in a neighborhood last night just after dark, about 8 pm. Numerous children were on on their skateboards or razors or electric skateboards. Most of these last night were children 15 and under although there were a few older teenagers. This is so dangerous. They need to realize it is dark and not everyone has the eyes of a 10 year old.

I know the pain of a child from being hit with your car, as I was with my grandpa when he did so. It is horrible for the child and their family and horrible for the person driving the car and their family. Please remind other parents how important it is to have the kiddos in the back yard once dusk sets in.

It is fun to ride them, yes. Do so while the sun is in the sky! Enjoy. Have a ball! And, let’s be safe!

Good Health is Priceless!

Vaccine or No?

Just like politics, most people are very positioned about vaccines. But do you know why you have the position you have?

It is a big subject and I attempt to keep this a TIP, instead of a long blog. And, you want to hear from experts, right? So join me in watching a documentary about vaccines. It is a big subject and has a long history so watch and learn.

When I was a kid, I had never heard the word auto-immune disease. What has caused the increase in auto immune issues. Please don’t say genetics, because genetics don’t work like that. Genetic change happens over many life times, not one. I don’t know what is in this documentary, but I’d be very surprised if they don’t have something about auto-immune disease, so share this link with others so they can also watch this documentary.

Bad Breath

There are many reasons for bad breath. If you don’t have a problem with your teeth or gums, look to your digestion. Bad breath can come up from the intestines. You may notice it now more than ever if you are wearing masks. Improve your digestion, but that takes some time. I just read about a quick fix. If you use it, please let me know how it works for you.

Take a slice of cucumber and hold it to the roof of your mouth for at least 30 seconds. When I read something like this, of course maybe it works maybe it doesn’t. I always weigh the pros and cons of using it. There are no cons. It is a cucumber for goodness sake. If it doesn’t work, you aren’t left with pain (like using statins) or a blood clot (remember the old birth control pill), so you might as well try it.

Try it and come see me and let’s work on your digestion! When I was a kid, if you had a stomach ache, you were sick. Many people live with gut aches. And please remember the connection between the gut and the brain and recognize that your brain health, think depression, is often caused by your gut health!! Enjoy the end of summer!!

Erectile Dysfunction

it isn’t just men that are concerned about their sexual performance. The women in their lives are concerned about it too.

Often this information is talked about behind smirks and grins, where we assume it is everyone else’s problem. Young men don’t usually have to deal with these issues, but they are not forever young. Right? Wouldn’t it be great to deal with it BEFORE it is a problem so you, or your loved one, NEVER have to deal with it?

Everyone, sooner or later, gets to the age where their body is not just talking to them, but screaming at them. But what if there was a way to discover if you are “on your way to erectile dysfunction” before you actually get there? And what if there is an easy fix? Feel free to come in and talk with me or simply watch the movie you can get on net flicks, “The Game Changer.” They do a fabulous job of explaining exactly the problem and the fix of erectile dysfunction. And, no pills are involved.

If you do not have net flicks, this is one movie you will always be glad you have on DVD. ENJOY!
