Osteoporosis

This is known, for the most part, as a woman’s disease. I have women in my practice who are scared of osteoporosis. I’ve known people who have done dramatic things to increase their bone mass. I have never known anyone who has increased it all that much by doing those dramatic things, like infusions.

I read this article from Dr. McDougall and thought I should share it with my patients and friends because there seems to be so much fear around it. Maybe this article will give you a good perspective and help the fear factor when it comes to osteoporosis. I hope it helps to hear it from someone else! This is really a great article and if you have friends with this issue (who doesn’t), feel free to pass it along.

Cancer

The Truth About Cancer is a docu-series teaching about natural treatments for cancer. It is going on right now. There are 9 or 11 days of receiving a video each day to watch for 24 hours. Normally, at the end of the docs-series, they give you a couple days to listen to any episode you choose. And of course, you can buy the episode.

This is an excellent document-series. You learn so many treatments that are available for cancer. They leave no stone unturned about how to follow the laws of nature to be healthy. There is so much to know. If you can only watch one or two episodes, you will be richer. If you can listen to all of them, good for you! You will learn so much.

Go to their website, thetruthaboutcancer.com and you will be able to sign up and they will send you the link to each day’s video. These people are totally dedicated to learning and teaching. This is what happens when people are affected by their own experience. Ty and Charlene lost several family members within a few years and that started them on their path to find out the truth about cancer. ENJOY!

Every Little Bit Helps!

When we want to improve our health, we tend to think in big things.

We might consider big things like becoming totally vegan or going to a personal trainer to develop strength.  It is like after New Year’s every year, everyone is going to go on a diet and go to the gym.  But what about making smaller changes that can affect your life?

What about before each meal taking three deep breaths?

What about learning to breathe from the belly?

What about just taking 5 minutes to massage a place on your body that hurts?

What about laughing out loud every day at something?

What about being grateful each day for being here on this beautiful earth?

What about making a salad a part of each day.

What about taking a 20 minute walk each day?

All of these affect your body and mind.  Just select one and instead of saying I will do it every day for the rest of my life, commit to doing it for the rest of this month and then re-evaluate and see if you want to continue.  All of these are beneficial in different ways to helping your body be healthy and balanced.

Have a Happy Face!

I was in Texas this last weekend.  There was a coffee shop that had a wall with all kinds of uplifting sayings printed on it as the decoration.  It was so fun to read them.   They all created a smile on our faces.  They were just cute and usually true.  The whole store was one big smile.

We could say that is not life.  Life has ups and downs.  And that is true.  However, most of the time, we have a choice.  Right now, I choose to be positive.  I choose to be happy.  I choose to have a smile.  I choose to see the good.  I choose my focus to be on the positive.

With that comes choosing to avoid the negative.  Often, we don’t know something is negative until we read it or hear it or watch it.  Our practice is to constantly be choosing.  Choose good.  Choose smiles.  Choose positive.  Choose people who are positive in your life.

See if being happy and choosing smiles, joy, goodness will be a firm foundation for better health.

Happy Spring!  ENJOY!

Health

Think about your body as a glass and the toxins you take in as the water.  How many toxins can your body handle?   As the toxins are accumulated in the body, the levels rise.  When your glass overflows, a disease process begins.  It is really important to keep your level of toxins down.  Toxins are pesticides, herbicides, pollution, body care products, poor quality of food and drinks, the mercury from the air, the lead from cars, and on and on it goes.  We want to clean the inside of our body just like we clean the outside.  A great way to cleanse is to get rid of the organisms in your body which is the work I do.  What can you do at home to help?  You can eat organic food and drink pure, filtered water.  Let’s do it as good health is priceless!!

Honey!

I want bees to stay away from me. However, their honey is delicious!

When you eat the raw honey, it may help you with your allergic symptoms such as sneezing, itchy nose and eyes as well as the stuffiness people experience. One caveat is your best results will be from honey in the area where you live. Why? Bees are known as the pollinators. As they bring and mix the pollen in their honey, it helps decrease symptoms in people’s environmental allergies meaning the weeds, grasses, flowers, etc.

You can look it up and you wil find that studies are lacking and this has grown by word of mouth. That is true. Who would be interested in paying the money for a study on whether honey decrease your environmental allergies? Certainly not the people with the money, like the drug companies. Since there’s little downside to eating honey, it might be worth a try. Use raw honey and eat one teaspoon a day. And yes, you can put it in your hot tea.

A person who lives in the vicinity of Evans and Downing here in Denver are selling bottles of raw honey made by their bees. If you would like to buy some, you can contact them at nrgd@frii.com

If you prefer, you can get it from me. You can let me know if it does, indeed, help your allergies. Each bottle is $12.

COVID 15

People joke about COVID 15, meaning they have gained 15 pounds while staying at home during COVID. Oh my, how to get those pounds to go away. If there is one way to lose weight, it is to limit the amount of time you allow yourself to eat during the day. Eat only in a 6-8 hour window. It is talked about a great deal these days. Some days I can do it and some days I can’t. The more days we do it, the better.

Another option, which is similar, is to eat nothing after 6 o’clock. Oh but I like to munch while watching television or a movie. Yes, I know. But honestly, this isn’t just for your weight, but your health. Eating and then going to bed just doesn’t work well. After eating, you should have at least 3 hours before you go to bed. You digestive system should not be working when we are sleeping.

When I practiced in Houston, I had a patient who was a bicyclist. He rode his bike at least 50 miles a day. He won a race from Houston to Austin and back while I was treating him. I asked him how he got started bicycling and he said he was overweight and decided to get in shape. He quit eating after 3 pm. And he lost the weight.

If you try any of these methods and are successful, please let me know. Good luck!

What is your perspective about health?  It is good to think about it when you are not in a state of crisis, but when you are living an ordinary life.

Here is mine:  I believe that our health can always improve.  If you are older, you may not lose all of the labels you have accrued over time.  In other words, you may still have a diagnosis of a disease process.  Even then, you can get better.  You can improve.  And some people completely heal.  Did I mention it usually takes effort, sometimes more than we have, meaning it isn’t something to be judgmental about.

Age has its process but you and I both know people who are pretty old and are in pretty good health.  I call them my models of how I want to grow older.  They never gave up.  They set intentions each day whether they did it consciously or not.

We are purpose driven people.  Use your spark of creativity to decide:  what can I do today to improve my health?  You make choices each day that make you just a little healthier whether it be a walk, a heavy-duty exercise program, preparing yourself a meal full of love and nutrition or simply letting go of judgment you have toward yourself about not being perfect.  Take a moment to enjoy that you are here now!

Extra Pounds?

Losing weight can be such a struggle. In this video, Satchin Panda talks about the circadian rhythm and how paying attention to WHEN we eat can make a huge difference on the scale. I think it is important what we eat. So I was startled at his research. He said that as long as he shortened the time the rats in his research could eat, they stayed healthy, and thin, no matter what they ate. And when the rats had access to food at any time of day, they developed diseases and were fat. I found his talk so interesting and thought you might too. Maybe there is some take home here. I’m going to try it.
