FASTING

This doctor is new to me, but I so enjoyed all he had to say. The information is not new to me. He speaks about fasting. He gives us a good reason to fast. At one point he talked about how your body has 70% greater chance of avoiding cancer by fasting. Who doesn’t want that? Fasting is very good for us, but it is a mental game. Most people aren’t that hungry. Hunger goes away, but our mind wants to eat. He is a good doctor predicting that protocols of fasting will accompany cancer treatment in the future.

Even if you are not in the mental place to fast right now, listen to him and file it away for future use.

The ONE thing

What is the ONE thing that a person can do for their health that will have the greatest impact on their health?  There are many things, obviously, but the thing I feel is one of the very most important is to eat organic food.  I know it is more expensive.   I say, “I am paying my co-pay on the front end.”

If you can’t eat all organic, there are a few fruits and vegetables that are most necessary to eat organic.  They are apples, sweet bell peppers, cucumbers, celery, potatoes, grapes and cherry tomatoes.  It is that time of year so ENJOY THEM!

Extensive Research

Maybe you don’t know, but I have macular degeneration.  Dr. Chris Knobble has definitively discovered that the rate of macular degeneration in our society has gone up as our use of vegetable oils has gone up.  

Most likely each of us can eat a different amount of vegetable oils, before developing macular degeneration.  I would think I have eaten much less than the average person, but I have macular degeneration.   I have only bought about 2 bottles of vegetable oil in my life because I never had a family.  Especially since going to chiropractic school, I just don’t eat that way.

It is the FOOD!!

Dr. Michael Greger is an interesting guy.  He wrote the books, “How Not to Die,” and “How Not to Diet.”  His website is nutritionfacts.org.  He likes to bring the research down to us people on the street.  It just takes too long for it to get to doctor’s offices.  These books are like gold mines!

One study he references in “How Not to Die” is about type 2 diabetes.  A study was done taking people who averaged their A1C at 8.2.  Under 5.7 is normal.  Above 6.5 is diabetic.  After 7 months of eating a diet centered on whole plant foods, the patients had stopped taking their medications and their A1C dropped to a non-diabetic 5.8.  How cool is that?  The right food corrects so many problems.  Enjoy all the fruits and vegetables that will be harvested this summer.  It is a great time to center meals around whole plant foods!

Cramps


How many times in your life have you had to jump up in the middle of the night because you have a muscle cramp? This is common. And, of course, it is immediate. You can’t wait until your doctor calls you back. You need relief immediately. Sometimes you jump up before you are even awake. Not exactly restful sleep, right?

There are a couple of very easy things you can do–both completely natural.

I rarely have a cramp in my foot or leg, but when I do, I jump up, go to the kitchen and put some of Mercola’s Himalayan Salt in my hand. Then I lick my hand. I go back to bed–cramp free. That salt has over 80 minerals in it. I love it.

My niece has said: if you will eat 2 dates a day, you won’t have cramps in the middle of the night. 

If you have cramps, try one of these home remedies. If you don’t have success, then try the other one. Let me know which of the two ways helps you. And if you feel like it, you can send this to family, friend, post of Facebook, etc. This is a common problem. Help your neighbor!! Good luck!!

Stem Cells

Maybe you have heard about stem cells. Some people choose that route instead of a joint replacement like a knee or a shoulder. A shot or a surgery? I would choose the stem cell and at the same time, I hope I never need it.

The other stem cells we hear about is with cancer. People have cancer and often can recover from it. It is the stem cell that we worry about because that is where the cancer is birthed. So the question is: what can we do about stem cells NOW. We don’t want to wait for a diagnosis. Have some of this in your diet every day so your body can take care of business and kill the stem cells. There are some foods listed to the side of this article if you don’t have time to read it all. Sun and Skin

It is pretty well established (with the latest being COVID) that we need vitamin D and one of the reasons most of us are low is because we have used so much sun blocker on our skin. We get the best conversion of vitamin D from the sun, not from supplements. So we need to learn to maximize getting our exposure and minimize too much exposure. If I am outside taking a walk, I don’t wear sunscreen. Maybe others with more sensitive skin should. However, if I am going to the swimming pool or the lake or the beach, I do wear sun screen because, although I do want some sun, I don’t want too much. I don’t want to get burned. I don’t need more wrinkles. But I do want a good amount of vitamin D. So we all need to be conscious of what we need to do for ourselves. Summer is here, so let’s enjoy it, in a smart way!!

Short Cuts!

We all take a few short cuts in our lives. Most of my patients love the detox bath. However, sometimes you might not be able to do it. Some people have been so sore that they can’t get in the tub because they are afraid they might not be able to get out. As we get older, we really understand!

If you are too sore to get in the tub or perhaps you only have a shower, there is a short cut. You can put your feet in a container and almost any container can do. A trash can or maybe your largest pot for the stove wil. often do. It is simple. Soak your feet until the water is cold.

Another option for sinus pain or a headache is to make the recipe in a bowl, soak a wash cloth in the water, and put it over your sinus area or over your head. Give these short cuts a try when, for whatever reason, the bath doesn’t work.

Chronic Issues

Many of my patients wonder why they have to take such good care of themselves to be healthy. I explain how our environment has changed, even since we were kids. We have GMO food. Think how many more pesticides and herbicides have been made since you graduated high school. Those chemicals get in our body and cause havoc.

You have probably heard me talk about all the organisms in your body whether it is parasite, bacteria, virus or fungal. And then there are the heavy metals. And then we added biofilms. And then I take away certain food. And sometimes it is still a struggle to get well and stay well.

Wellness

Wellness, for most people, is a goal.  It is fun to be alive when you feel well.

Years ago, in China, the doctor (probably acupuncturist and herbalist) was paid when the patient was well and not paid when the patient was sick.  They made money only if they kept the patient well. What would happen if we started that practice here?  The problem is medicine has turned into “managing your problem,” instead of curing much of anything.  Take a child with asthma.  You can see their life in the future.  Yes, some will not go the medicine route, but many will be on medication for the rest of their lives.  That is “managing their illness.”  They mean managing it with drugs.  For me, I want to give my body a chance to heal the issue, not cover it up.  What about you?
